Visit Tartu

City of good thoughts

Tartu is a unique city filled with culture, good thoughts and lots of university students. There are different cultural events and festivals, unique fairs and educational conferences happening in Tartu all year round. In the old town of Tartu, one can immerse in the beautiful architecture and cozy cafes. Tartu is a vibrant and compact city which makes it a comfortable destination for every adventurer as well as families travelling with children.

PS! This is the view from Plasku viewing platform (Dorpat guests can visit it with a discount ticket – 1€).

Immerse in Estonian culture

Tartu is known as a city of good thoughts. It's represented in the unique graffiti, bohemian atmosphere and different parts of the city with outstanding wooden architecture.

The most famous symbol of the city is the University of Tartu and their museum is definitely worth a visit. One can also learn about Finno-Ugric culture in the grand Estonian National Museum and see cultural masterpieces in different genres in Vanemuine Theatre.

Near Tartu, we recommend paying a visit to Ice Age centre, Estonian Aviation Museum and Estonian Agriculture Museum.

A shopaholic's paradise

There's lots of shopping opportunities for every taste: big shopping centres where you may find well-known brands and small boutiques selling local design. There are also several restaurants, cafes, beauty and entertainment related services found in the department stores.

The biggest shopping centres in Tartu are Tasku, Lõunakeskus, Kvartal and Tartu Kaubamaja.

Vacation full of adventures

There's plenty of activities for adventure lovers. A fun day for both, kids and adults, is guaranteed in AHHAA Science Centre, Upside Down House and Tartu's Adventure Park. And it's just a 10-minute-drive to Lange Motokeskus, where you can master your skills in motoracing.

In the summertime we invite you all to sail with us on River Emajõgi. Riverboat Pegasus departures just next to Dorpat Hotel and takes you on a 1,5 hour long journey.
